Bev and I got started on the house hunting the weekend before last and tried our luck at an auction this weekend, however were unsuccessful.
Never mind, we have decided to revise our strategy somewhat and will hit the house hunting circuit again this weekend, hopefully with more success. The funny thing is that we see the same couples at every house we visit, there's just a big group of people looking for the same thing - hopefully one day it will be our chance to win!
At least we're getting to spend a lot of time together, and we're finding our way around Melbourne a little bit better... I'll be so happy once this is all over! I don't understand those people who get so into house hunting that they still peruse the paper for houses even once they've bought one... I shall revel in never having to look again once we are successful - probably because we'll be so busy renovating the shit box we've bought that we wont have time!

We are on the edge of becoming... those people
I don't know about the rest of you but I've seen friends change over time... everything is normal until suddenly they begin... house hunting - suddenly their not available on the weekends, they are to tired during the week... then when you do get a chance to speak with them all they want to talk about is their search for a home!
Well as a word of warning --- Bevan and I are exactly one month today off becoming those people - we are anticipating the change and even beginning to imagine our new personas... who will play what role, what will we wear to important auctions (well ok Bev's not thinking that, that's only me) and will we ever find something we can afford.
My biggest fear is that after a year and a half of full on saving we'll go out into the market and realise that we can't afford what we want, the main criteria being grass so we can get two puppies...
Anyway, my blogging is likely to be on this vein of thought until we find a place or give up and decide to keep renting... so just wanted to warn you!

Thankfully normality has returned
I fixed it... thank goodness - the question really is, why did this happen...?
Why suddenly did this turn on me and cause such trouble - rough really but life does go on, I'm trying so hard not to take it personally... ;-(
Tee Hee!
Now this is fixed I shall blog freely again!

Naughty Computer... or Operator User Error
I have done something wrong... I don't quite know how this happened but everything on the internet is now showing up in Chinese...

Time
Why must the powers that be fiddle with the time, it's so wrong for them to do that....

Nic's dress was so lovely!
Hence I am sitting here updating my blog at 6 on a Sunday morning, totally wrong!
But all good as I'm pulling together all the pics from Nic's wedding to show... it was so much fun! YAY for Nic and Jeff my funky married friends!
The wedding was so great, Nic was the most fantastic, plus we got to get all dressed up and dance around it was so much fun! I've haven't danced for so long it was great!
Penny, Nic and I before the wedding! YAY!
Aren't they so adorable! Ahhhhh! They kept looking at eachother with so much feeling (love) that it was enough to make you cry...
Nic's dress was so lovely!
Plus I manged to speak without being a complete spak... well as far as I can remember anyway!
YAY!

Sorry dear blog
I have been so busy lately that I've not posted in ages, since we got back from Thailand... ahhh!
Basically I've been getting into my new job, as an Account Manager - I'm loving the title, and getting geared up for Nic's wedding, it's only weeks away now, it's so close!
I'm getting very excited about the Hen's party, it's going to be such a great night.
Next weekend we're going to another wedding as two of Bevan's friends are getting married, then it's the Hen's party, then Nic and Jeff's wedding, then a friend's babies Christening, then Easter, then my uncles wedding - it's a year of weddings and all pretty exciting!
Pretty proud that I managed to hook my new laptop up to the internet all on my own! Will certainly now be able to post more that i have a computer again, lack of computer = lack of posts!
Watch this space, more info, and I promise pics, soon!

We are back!
We touched down in wonderful Melbourne yesterday morning, after a pretty full on flight. Poor Bev came down with gastro on the plane trip home and spent a fair amount of time in the little toilet being sick. Poor thing, he was quite grumpy at me as somehow I managed to pretty much sleep through the whole thing, man have I got the guilts!
Starting to unpack and get organised now, so we'll post photo's and trip stories in the next few days, I've got a week off before starting my new job so I should have a bit of time!
Missed you all so much, can't wait to check out your blogs and find out what's been happening with you all lately!
Love Carly

New Job
I think I may have already found a new job, how bizarre...
There I was thinking that I'd have months to sit around on the couch watching TV but now it looks like I potentially might even start working as soon as I get back from Thailand.
Funny how things work... oh well, might help to pay off our holiday I guess!

Crap
A bird crapped in my hair this morning while I was waiting for the tram, how bad is that.
There I was sitting down waiting patiently, and suddenly I felt something in my hair, I reached up and yuck.... poo!
How gross, I got out my tissue supply and removed what I could, then sat on the tram convinced that everyone was staring at my poo marked head. Once I got to work I spent several minutes in the bathroom washing my hands and contorting my body to try and see the back of my head.
Then one of the girls I worked with arrived and I had to ask her if she could see anything in my head, and she could. She then offered to help me and removed all traces of the horrible occurance - many thanks!
Some people call getting crapped on by a bird good luck, I am not one of those people, it is really gross and people just say that to try and make you feel better! If I never get crapped on again in my life I will be a happy girl!

The new camera
How exciting, we picked up our new camera yesterday and it is fabbo!
I've posted the first ever pictures we took with it, Bevan got to take the first one as he won a bet we had.
Basically we have been putting all our coins into a big money tin (you know those ones with Australian money pictures on the outside) for about 9 months now. Originally Bevan was saving up to buy an iPod but I bought him one for his birthday so we decided to use the money for a new camera to take on our holiday. We bet how much money we thought was in the tin, I said $1000, Bevan said $600, who ever was closest got to take the first picture with the new camera.
We ended up with about $650 in the tin so Bevan won. I must add however that Bevan has been telling me that after he's been out drinking he's been putting $50 notes in the tin. For the record there were absolutely no $50 notes in the tin, I think Bevan goes out drinking spends lots more than he intends to then by way of explaining the missing money convinced himself that he had put heaps of money in the tin. Anyway as I am not one to hold a grudge I let him take the first photo, which as he is such a sweetie he took a photo of me (although I was grumpy cause I didn't feel I looked my best)...

As you can see, at this stage also we weren't 100% on using the camera, I since worked out we had the camera on the manual setting...
The second photo...

I took this one, but Bevan moved...hopefully over the coming weeks our photography skills will improve!
I will take loads of photos during my epic journey to Queensland this weekend!

New Camera

We have bought a new camera, I am so excited, it's so pretty! I can't wait till we are cruising around Thailand snapping pictures of stuff and then being able to go back later and look at the pictures and remember the fantastic times we had.
The camera is coming from Hong Kong and we have been given this tracking number so we can track the movements of the delivery, I tell you this is addicitive, every hour or so I'm logging in checking out where the parcel is. Yesterday was most boring as the package just sat in the departure louge in Hong Kong taking it easy, but this morning when I got in something had happened, the parcel had moved... it is now in transit, I'm hoping that by the end of the day it will have hit Australian shores and hopefully we'll receive it tomorrow...
Bevan is the lucky one who gets to take the first photo as we had a bet running to see who would win this privilage, so I'll just have to sit back and watch him snap away, but hopefully he'll be nice and let me take the second photo!
Can't wait to publish the first pics from our new camera on the blog!

My cous
Bevan and I caught up with my cousin Shaun last night and we had a really great time. It made me think about the fact that I have heaps and heaps of cousins but rarely get the opportunity to spend time with them and get to know them. When you are travelling you get to know new people all the time and forge great connections with people but sometimes when you get back home you stop doing that and just hang with your friends. I think I’m going to try to get to know more of the people I know, if that makes sense.

I quit my job!
Dear Blog, you will be the ultimate recipient of my new found free time (well once I’ve actually finished up and return from Thailand) as I’m going to be an unemployed bum once more. Oh how I’ve yearned for the days of not working, when Adam and I spent months drinking beer whilst sitting in the pool, ahhh I feel young again!
I am happy, very, very happy, to announce that I quit my job on Tuesday and will be finishing up on December 22, how exciting is that! Not sure what I will do next year, but I’m sure something will come up, perhaps my ambitions of being an ice-cream tester will finally come to fruition, or I’ll be able to actually fit in that visit to Sarah and Adam in Sydney.
Biggest thanks has got to go to Bevan for giving me the confidence to actually quit, along with agreeing to feed me while I’m an impoverished unemployed bludger, he’s like my Centrelink!
YAY FOR ME!

Has anyone seen my brother...?

Today is Ad's birthday, and I'd love to wish him a Happy Birthday however his mobile phone has been disconnected and I've no other way to get in contact with him...(other than via email or blog).
Therefore, I'd like to broadcast my birthday wish to my brother through my blog and hope that he gets around to reading it at some point! Happy Birthday Ad, in true birthday fashion I've bought you a carton of beer, however, as you are in Sydney and I am not I've drunk it!
I'm hoping to visit you early next year, then we can catch up!
By the way, if anyone else, runs into Ad give him a birthday hug from me!
Lotsa love,
Carly

I've been published
I am very, very excited... today I received a magazine in the mail from a client that had an article I'd written inside, this might possibly be the best day of my week.
I can now claim to be a published researcher, how very, very exciting!
Well maybe not too exciting as you can't actually purchase a copy of the magazine, and no one that I know will ever receive it... until I scan it and send it to all my family and friends...

Carly Simon
I had the strangest dream last night! For some reason I was doing a Carly Simon concert, I wasn’t Carly Simon, but I was like a Carly Simon tribute singer, very strange. Anyway, everything was going really well and everyone was really enjoying the concert until I realised that the crowd wanted more and the set I had organized was almost over. So I asked the crowd if there were any songs they wanted to hear and Nic, who of course had front row seats, called out ‘White Velvet’. The crowd starting yelling their approval and the band started up the song and suddenly I realized that I didn’t know the words, I flicked back and forth in my song book but couldn’t find the words so just had to fake it. Suddenly I ran off stage by fitting into a large water bottle (I know, what the) and went off to the downstairs dressing room and found some of Carly Simon’s original outfits. Bevan was with me and we choose a whole new outfit, but he didn’t want me to wear too many bracelets, then I went to go back on stage and finish the concert with a killer number, but somehow a long period of time had passed and it was quite late. I met Nic and Jeff on the stairs and they said the crowd had gone home thinking that the concert was over, and that they had ordered pizza and were waiting for it…What does it mean???? Am I slowly going mad! Why should my namesake attack me now???

The Australian Desert, who would have thunk it...?
We took advantage of the Melbourne Cup public holiday and had a long weekend in which we went on a Jeep trip to Big Desert. Our base camp was in a small town called Pinnaroo, which is just over the South Australian boarder, and about 6 or 7 hours drive from Melbourne.
I don't know about other people but when I thought Australian Desert, I was thinking long stretches of nothing but sand, but that's not what it was, there was sand alright but lots of shrubs as well... very strange...! Bit of a suprise, but other people seemed to expect it so I wonder if all Austalian deserts are like this...?
Anyway, all in all it was a great weekend, fairly tiring but fun, I'm going to get hold of some of the pics and post them up soon because there were a few fun challenges that we put the Jeep through!

Sick but happy!
I am sick, again... Boo hoo!
It is totally not fair, there I was doing really well and then suddenly bham, sick...
Bevan and I went to a wedding celebration on Saturday night (i.e. one of Bev's friends got married in Port Douglas but had their reception party at their house in Belgrave), needless to say for some reason it was freezing on Saturday night, I mean it is October, last week we had 36 degrees celcius, and the one night Bev and I head out for a outdoor party it snows in the Dandenong's... For those of you who don't know where Belgrave is, it is very close to the Dandenongs, i.e. foothills, so basically it was extremely cold. Anyway, I think that's what tipped me off as Sunday night I started to get a scratchy throat and am now sitting at my desk surrounded by 10 million tissues.
Anyway, enough about me... yesterday my fantastic, smart, wonderful boyfriend passed his comptuer exam (the Microsoft one). Bev's been working super hard to study, and I think it's really fantastic that he passed, with a score of 91%!!! YAY SMARTY PANTS! So my hat goes off to the super smart one, yay for him! Now he just has another 10 000 other computer exams to do, but this was the first big one so he's well on the road... Congrats baby!

Adventures in Home Improvement
So a few months ago I was shooting around randomly on the internet, after viewing my sister’s blog I clicked on that button at the top which says ‘next blog’, I clicked a few times and came across a blog.. http://ednkeesummers.blogspot.com/
This blog caught my attention because it’s all about two normal people, who have a small child deciding to renovate their own bathroom. I thought it was quite interesting and checked in on them every couple of weeks to update myself on their progress.
Following their last blog on August 15, entitled ‘yes we are still working’, there has been nothing but silence. What am I to do, will I ever find out if they have finished remodelling their bathroom, will I ever again get to see photo’s of little Kenton having the first go in the shiny new bathtub… I just don’t know, and at the moment to be honest I’m not sure how I feel about that. It’s like starting a really good book and then having it cruelly ripped away from you for no reason at all. Should I post a comment and ask then what’s happening with the bathroom, or should I just let it go and always wonder… If I’d known blogging could be this depressing I might never have begun..
